Solenoid Valve
Description
In a fire sprinkler system, the solenoid valve is used in tandem with an automatic water control valve to release water into the system’s piping. This happens when a releasing panel, connected to an alarm system, energizes the solenoid valve, which in turn energizes the automatic water control valve to release the water. In the case of deluge systems, subsequent de-energizing of the release circuit will cause the automatic water control valve to reset and stop the flow of water into the system piping. In addition to a normally closed de-energized solenoid valve, preaction systems have an open de-energized solenoid value. The relationship of the two solenoid valves causes the preaction system to automatically default to a dry pipe system in the event of a power loss.
